Discovering Hope Among a Bleeding Disorder

mcaggianobusiness

The main purpose of HemoTalk is to provide support to those who struggle with a bleeding disorder and to inspire those to live life to the fullest.

Cazandra MacDonald, author of "Dear Hemophilia: Finding Hope Through Chronic Illness," hopes to share her heart, faith, and lessons she learned in her journey. The memoir "Dear Hemophilia: Finding Hope Through Chronic Illness" is about Cazandra raising two sons with hemophilia and inhibitors. She mentions that "The beauty of my book/journey is that a person can easily replace "hemophilia" with the name of their illness and relate their own experiences. I write for redemption. I believe our experiences are meant to teach us. If we can walk away with more knowledge on the disease or better yet, a better understanding of ourselves, then we have redeemed what seemed impossible to handle." Her experience is what she hopes to share in her book.

In 2015, Cazandra MacDonald performed a TEDx Talk called "A Prisoner of Hope," where she reflects on her struggle to preserve hope as she cares for two sons with severe hemophilia A and inhibitors. You can watch that here: A Prisoner of Hope | Cazandra Campos-MacDonald | TEDxABQ

For young children with hemophilia, Cazandra would educate them, and for teens and young adults, she believes that someone acknowledging them is sometimes what people need. For families dealing with hemophilia, she would say, "...if there was ever a time to have hemophilia, it is now," and would tell them to build their community. Building a community is one of the main goals of HemoTalk.

"Talking to people and hearing their stories is a way to understand the disorder and get some perspective on what may or may not happen. I would encourage families to love their little ones and not let the fear of hemophilia paralyze them... just enjoy your kids." - Cazandra MacDonald
