
Every year, April 17th is recognized as World Hemophilia Day which is the birthday of Frank Schnabel, the founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia. Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder where ones blood doesn't clot properly and according to the World Federation of Hemophilia, World Hemophilia Day is about bringing those around the world with bleeding disorders like Hemophilia, together: "With the COVID-19 pandemic having a major impact on people with a bleeding disorder, that objective has never been more important." - The WFH.
World Hemophilia Day is also used to acknowledge achievements in medication and raise awareness for bleeding disorders. Hemophilia was first discovered in the 10th century and in 1937 it broke up into two names: A and B. At the time, there as no treatment. Now, medical advancements have allowed scientists to have amazing discoveries:
